A Welcome for the Bishop
The drenching rains of Saturday night gave way to a beautiful morning at the chapel. The Rt. Rev. Julia Whitworth, the 17th Bishop Diocesan of the Dioceses of Massachusetts, led the 9:00 service with Rev. Mike D’Angelo. This was the bishop’s first visit to St. Aidan’s. The crowd was large and enthusiastic, and her welcome was warm and heartfelt.
A poignant request was made by Beverly Sutton, Virginia Needham, and Dr. Nancy Langhans regarding the extraordinary needs of people experiencing food insecurity in New Bedford. Please support our drive by bringing non-perishable foods, diapers, and lightly used children’s books to the chapel. Our three Outreach Committee chairs lead important work on behalf of our community.
Following the service, the 2nd Annual Community Brunch commenced. Many contributed quiches, salads, and other delicious foods. The largesse of this parish is impressive! People of all ages came together under the beautiful beech tree to celebrate our community and the pleasures of gathering in the embrace of Christ’s love.
Thanks to everyone who made this special day such a success!
