Meet our Organist, Erik Kenyon
Dr. Erik Kenyon started college at UVM as a music major. His organ teacher said he would never find a full-time job, so he switched to more majors in Philosophy and Ancient Greek. While at UVM, Erik served as organist for Grace Episcopal Church in Sheldon, VT, where he raised funds to restore the parish’s 1833 Henry Erben organ.
Erik completed a PhD in Classics at Cornell University and taught Classics and Philosophy at Rollins College in Winter Park, FL, for eight years. He is an advocate for pre-college philosophy and returned north in 2020 to teach Latin and English at Friends Academy in Dartmouth. He serves on the board of the Philosophy Learning And Teaching Organization (PLATO) and the national middle school ethics bowl. He is author of Augustine and the Dialogue (Cambridge, 2018), Ethics for the Very Young (Rowman & Littlefield, 2019) and Philosophy at the Gymnasium (Cornell, 2024).
Erik has served as bass section leader at Grace Episcopal, New Bedford, since 2021. He took the position as St. Aidan’s organist in 2025. Erik’s most recent passion is renaissance lute, which he hopes to play for St. Aidan’s congregation sometime soon!
