Steve Hatfield Honored for Leadership and Service
On yet another sunny Sunday morning, worshippers gathered for the penultimate service of the summer. The Rt. Rev. Carol Gallagher presided over the communion service that included a heartfelt tribute to outgoing Standing Committee Chair, Stephen Hatfield.
Fellow Standing Committee member George Andrews offered remarks in praise of Steve’s leadership and selfless dedication to the Chapel and its parishioners over the past five years. Guiding us through the ever-shifting challenges of the Covid pandemic and its consequences for communities of faith was a challenging task that Steve handled with grace and sensitivity. His commitment to the Chapel and its wellbeing knew no bounds. From scaling the roof to repairing the bell to managing the intricacies of an all-volunteer parish administrative structure, Steve handled his responsibilities beautifully, motivated by his devotion and love of St. Aidan’s.
A framed photograph of the Chapel and a set of lures for tuna fishing were given to Steve in appreciation. His wife Carla was also honored with a hydrangea to be planted at their home.
Well done and thank you, Steve and Carla!
